Dear August (2020)
‘Dear August’ explores the emotions and nostalgia of summertime over a period of 48 hours in the Mediterranean. The series of self-portraits are accompanied by a poem narrated by the subject within the imagery.

Dear August,

Just like the waves greet the shoreline, you return with your embrace. Your soul is painted with glowing hues and every time I fall for your charm.

Did I ever tell you that the nights are not as quiet when you’re around? There is comfort in your warmth, the evenings do not seem all that different to the day.

Even the sun, it barely sleeps. I do not blame them all that much.

Your presence is sweet like a ripe peach, aromatic and rich

Even though our days grow shorter as time passes by your light is golden, the embodiment of carpe diem.

Each dawn you remind me that the sun will rise again in the following morning.

The mellow wind hums on a cloudless sky as I pray for rain.

To hear the rhythmic beats of droplets trickling down the leaves. I will cherish the scent, if only I could capture it in a bottle.

Like grains of sand that appear sprinkled on bedsheets days after returning from the beach, I will find you in places even when you won't be around.

Until our paths cross again.

Yours, Summer
